Bangkok is a bustling, humid, heaving city that doesn’t sleep. I’ve always found that Bangkok gives me that feeling, like I’ve had one too many cups of coffee. A feeling of just a little too much energy, a little unstable but as long as you’re not looking to sleep you’ll have a great time. The city does have a lot of places to slow down and enjoy a family holiday, there’s always something to do. So here’s our list of things to do in Bangkok with kids.
Take a river cruise in Bangkok
The best way to see the city of Bangkok is from the river. Running through the centre of the city you’ll be able to find a long tail boat to take a tour of not just the main river. The Long tail boats also explore the canals that lead to the traditional parts of the city.
During your river cruise you’ll no doubt stop by other long tail boats selling things. You can buy snacks or beer from the sellers on the boat. So make sure you take a little Baht with you. It’s one of the best things to do in Bangkok with kids.
Eat dinner in the sky
Bangkok is home to some of the best rooftop restaurants and bars in the world. Dotted around the city at dizzying heights you’ll be able to dine in the clouds.
Check out the Scarlett Restaurant or Vertigo if you’re brave enough to handle the heights. If you’re looking for something a bit more tame try the Arun Residence Restaurant on the riverside. You’ll get beautiful views of the river and temples without the fear of heights kicking in.
Shop for anything at Chatuchak market
The Chatuchak weekend market is one of the largest outdoor markets in the world. There are over 15,000 market stalls and you can buy literally anything here.
The markets are broken into 27 sections and each section sells something different. Over the weekend the markets get 200,000-300,000 visitors a day. Make sure you brush up on your negotiation skills because you’ll need to haggle to get a bargain.

Check out Dinosaur Planet
Dinosaur Planet is a cool little park and rightly deserves a place on the list of things to do in Bangkok with kids. The park has 200 life size models of dinosaurs. Kids sit on them and ride them. It’s a great place to get off the busy streets and do something just for the kids.
