Sydney has been playing catch up to Melbourne in terms of its bar scene for a while now. But this Sydney hidden bar tour will show you that it has more than caught up with its southern rival. Alleyways and rooftops now are home to speakeasy’s, 1960’s Chinese drinking saloon’s and plantation themed rum joints if you know where to look.
Delve into Sydney’s evening with an introduction to some of the best hidden bars in the city. Starting with a pick up from your hotel we’ll head by foot to start with one of the best gin joints in town. Hidden in a back alley it’s easy to miss but a place to remember.
Moving on to a old fashioned speakeasy whiskey bar tucked in the basement of an office building you’ll be able to show off your whiskey knowledge. With over 150 types whiskey from the clean Japanese medal winners to the smokey Irish numbers. If you’re a connoisseur this is the bar for you. If you’re not I’ll teach you the Speyside’s from the Highlands.
After the 1920’s speakeasy we’ll take a step into somewhere a little more exotic. Tucked behind a suit tailors shop the next bar is a 1960’s Chinese saloon style bar. Serving cocktails in tea kettles and steamed dumplings it’s a great place to take a moment to relax.
The next step on this Sydney hidden bars tour is to the plantation themed rum joint. Take the spiral staircase down into the 1930’s and drink the Old Fashioned way.
Your tour guide will drop you at your final bar for the evening. A beautiful Cuban bar with live salsa and dancing to let the night take you. If you have another style you want for the rest of your night just let me know and I’ll find the perfect place for you.
