This Sydney half day local tour explores the amazing foodie treasures of one Sydney’s most vibrant and bohemian neighbourhoods. Often said to be Camden Town (UK) meets Soho (USA) in an Aussie laid back way. It’s a very unique place to hangout.
Step out in Newtown and meet the locals with an open mind, you never know who you’ll meet. If you’re looking for great vegan food in Sydney this is the place to be.
Newtown is less than 15 minutes from the CBD and it plays host to a huge variety of award winning venues, music spots and unique places to eat. You’ll also find some great clothing stores to shop in.
The tour involves some walking so we can explore and talk to the passionate owners about their establishment and have a great taste testing journey along the way! Make sure you bring your appetite.
Sydney Half Day Local Tour Itinerary:
I will meet you at Newtown Station at 11 am.
The first stop with be the Black Star Pastry, it is the iconic home of the Watermelon Cake, said to be the most photographed cake in Australia. And trust me, it’s delicious. While we’re here you can taste a variety of amazing pastries and coffee.
For the second stop we will check out a few of Newtown’s best known pubs. Newtown is famous for their great variety of boutique beers. The bars we’ll visit are all within a short stroll of each other.
We’ll stop by the Bank Hotel for lunch. Hidden from the street this Newtown institution is a great place to soak up the local culture and meet the local people.
We’ll finish up with a walk through Newtown’s boutique and bohemian shops and end up with a stop at one of the many ice cream stores dotted along King street.
How to get to Newtown:
The inner suburb of Newtown is very accessible from the CBD with only 5 stops on the train (Circular Quay, Wynyard, Town Hall, Central, Redfern, Macdonaldtown and Newtown). Depending on where you take the train from it will take around sixteen minutes.
